Gibson Centre Wedding in Alliston

Lindsay and Bryan were married at the Gibson Centre in Alliston at the end of April. The Gibson Centre is a beautiful venue for a wedding and it's always a pleasure to photograph there!
Lindsay and Bryan had amazing weather for their big day and what a fantastic party it was! The guests enjoyed themselves until the very end. What a great beginning to the wedding season it was for me. Thanks guys!

2010 Winners Walk of Hope

This is the second year that I was on hand to document the admirable efforts of the Annual Winners Walk of Hope. This event helps raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer and this year's walk was bigger and better than last year!
So many people came out to support the cause and it really is tragic when you hear how many women have been affected by this terrible disease. Hopefully the funds raised through the Barrie walk as well as all the other walks held throughout Canada will eventually help contribute to better detection, treatment and maybe even a cure.

Honour thy blog

The last time I posted here we were just emerging from winter. Now I see that we're not too far from entering into a new one. And I haven't blogged. I admit it. I'm a bad blogger.

Well after a crazy summer that saw, among other things, my father having heart surgery, a blown up hard drive, a plethora of weddings, magazine cover shoots, time with my wife and kids.....it's time to make a blog comeback!

New blog posts to come! (very soon!)

Barrie Earth Hour Music Festival 2010

Did you turn off all your non-essential power from 8:30-9:30pm on Saturday, March 27th? A few thousand people did as they came down to enjoy the free Earth Hour Music Festival outside the Barrie City Hall on Saturday night.
I volunteered my services to this event promoting awareness of power conservation and took in the fantastic musical performances along with the rest of the enthusiastic crowd. I was really amazed by the musical talent that hit the stage and had a great time capturing over 1500 images of the show. An extensive gallery will eventually be available at the Barrie Earth Hour website but here's a sneak peek at a few of my faves from the night.

Olympic gold for Virtue & Moir and Joannie Rochette's courageous bronze

What an amazing 2 weeks of athletic achievement we've witnessed at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics! From Alex Bilodeau winning Canada's first Olympic gold medal at a Canadian Olympics, to the third straight Olympic gold for Canada's women's hockey team.

Of course the sport that I am most connected to (as I've been photographing it for 19 years now) is figure skating and I am so proud of what our Canadian team has accomplished here. All of Canada's skaters had good finishes but for sure the talk of the skating world has been Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir's Olympic gold (the first gold ever for Canada in Olympic ice dance) as well as the unbelievable story of Joannie Rochette.

I have known Joannie since her first year in senior ladies competition and I remember a shy girl who was quiet and unassuming back then. This week, after the tragic and sudden death of Joannie's mother, there was no trace of that shyness as she showed what a determined, courageous and strong athlete she is today. To overcome what must have been crushing emotion and to make the decision to continue to compete and then achieve an Olympic bronze medal is such an inspiring story and a true testament to the Olympic ideal of overcoming adversity and rising to the top.

Congratulations Joannie. I'm sure your Mom was applauding even more proudly than the rest of Canada was last night.

Kimberly and Mike

A beautiful sunny summer day on a golf course is always a wonderful thing to experience but when it's your wedding day it's that much better! Kimberly and Mike exchanged vows at the beautiful Copper Creek Golf Club in Kleinburg, ON and the backdrop for photos was incredible. I began photographing Kimberly as she was getting ready at her parents home and she was simply radiant! Mike didn't look too bad himself (ha,ha). Thanks for being such a great couple to work with guys!
